In this study, the effects of three parameters including reaction time, H2O2 concentration, and catalyst loading on the decolorization of methyl orange by synthesized copper ferrite nanocatalyst have been studied. In order to optimize the decolorization efficiency, response surface methodology (RSM) based on Box–Behnken design (BBD) was employed. Optimum condition for decolorization of methyl orange solution with concentration of 50 mg/l was obtained at 109.26 min, H2O2 concentration of 24.42 mmol/l, and catalyst loading of 49.88 mg/l. The results showed that at the optimum conditions, a decolorization of more than 95% can be obtained. The synthesized Fenton nanoparticles are efficient catalysts for the treatment of industrial wastewaters containing azo dyes such as methyl orange.
